Liz Gallaspy is a Social Worker with over 27 years of experience in child welfare and inpatient psychiatric treatment. She has been with Georgia State University Professional Excellence Program for nearly seven years. Liz has been a trainer for a number of years having been selected as a Trainer by the State of Georgia to train DFCS staff with the SHINES/SACWIS project. For several years, Liz also trained Adoption and Foster Parents on IMPACT & MAPP.
Liz received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 1987. She has been fortunate to work in various programs areas in Child Welfare. Therapeutic Foster Care, Foster Care, Adoptions. For a number of years she had her own Adoption and Foster Care Agency geared towards special needs adoption. The agency, The Children’s Center of Metro Atlanta, provided placement and advocacy services for parents seeking to adopt siblings, older children and medically fragile children. Liz continues to work at an Inpatient Psychiatric Dual Diagnosis Facility where she provides, family sessions, psychosocial assessments, process groups, individual sessions as well as outpatient substance abuse interventions. In addition to her professional career, Liz also finds joy in participating in her two sons extracurricular activities. She wanted to be instrumental in ensuring the quality of programming at the recreational center so she joined the governing Board of Directors at Welcome ALL Park. Liz two sons are ages 18 & 15.
